You should have a total of 4-6 years of work experience in API Management, including at least 2+ years in Microservices-based Architecture. A bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering with Computer Science/IT or equivalent experience is required. You should have expertise in technology consulting, architecture, and design with a focus on microservices, service mesh, and API Management. Key skills include providing Integration Modernization and recommending leading API management products like Kong Enterprise and service mesh products like Kong Mesh.
Hands-on experience in Enterprise-wide API management is essential, including API Design, API Documentation, API Security and Compliance, API Ops, and API Performance Optimization. You should be well-versed in modern API concepts such as GraphQL, gRPC, and Async APIs, with proficiency in writing API contracts using Swagger and async API specifications.
You should also have experience in architecting, deploying, and maintaining Kong Mesh (based on Kuma) infrastructure to ensure seamless service-to-service communication across Kubernetes and hybrid environments. A deep understanding of microservice design patterns and service mesh concepts is required, including configuring and optimizing mesh features such as mutual TLS (mTLS), intelligent traffic routing, circuit breakers, rate limiting, and observability.
Strong hands-on experience in designing and implementing microservices-based solutions and strategies, as well as managing the microservices adoption process within an organization, is crucial. You should have a solid understanding of web methodologies, including REST Architecture, SOA, ESB, APIs, Web Services, WSDL, Open API, XML, and JSON.
It is an added advantage if you have interface architecture knowledge with one or more on-premises or SaaS packaged solutions for ERP, CRM, and PLM systems, such as SAP, S/4 Hana, Salesforce, Teamcenter, or Oracle.
