In this role, you will:

  • This role sits within the Engineer Foundation Platform team.  This function is driving innovation across the bank through the use of Amazon Web Services (AWS). 
  • The Cloud Platforms team is responsible for the design, implementation and ongoing operational support of Cloud services for the HSBC Wealth and Personal Banking business. 
  • As an the lead DevOps engineer within Engineering Foundations you will be part of a pod implementing the CI/CD element of the platform that is used by thousands of developers to deploy their containers to the platform.
  • As part of this role, you will need to maintain the legacy pipeline but then help build the re-architected version which will offer our tenants the best service and implementation to our platform.
  • You have the chance to lead the design and deliver solutions within a complex and interesting financial enterprise environment. Your responsibilities will range from being a technical innovator, a subject matter expert, a mentor & guide, a consultant and a trouble-shooter.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements:

  • Essential Technical Skills:AWS,Groovy,Git,Jenkins Enterprise,CICD pipelines with controls,Kubernetes/Docker/Containers
  • Desirable Technical Skills:Splunk,Maven,Terraform,Bash,Python,HELM,ISTIO
  • Knowledge of automation, orchestration, and monitoring tools
  • Have experience designing and building services in the public cloud (ideally AWS), architecting for failure
  • Experience developing Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment pipelines across multiple technology stacks
  • Experience in highly available, highly scalable architectures
  • Ability to Influence and champion new ideas and methods
  • Experience in build and configuration management
  • Great communication - convey your thoughts, ideas and opinions clearly and concisely face-to-face or virtually to all levels up and down stream
  • And equally important - you listen and reflect back what others communicate to you
  • Be flexible under pressure
  • Be comfortable working within an agile, multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, ask ‘why’, be inquisitive.
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Ability to communicate with non-technical people
